Commercial Buildings & Hospitals

Immuno-compromised individuals are most susceptible to waterborne pathogens that thrive in biofilm. In some countries, regulations require hospitals, nursing homes, and long-term care facilities to have a Legionella and pathogen control program in place that addresses the biofilm. In other countries, industry guidelines strongly recommend such programs. In either case, the use of Chlorine Dioxide is supported as part of these biofilm pathogen control programs.

Chlorine dioxide is ideal for a tank cleaning program where storage tanks are required. Water storage tanks contain biofilm and potentially harmful bacteria. NY state has legislated that storage tanks must be cleaned on an ongoing basis. Continuous cleaning can be achieved by feeding 0.2 ppm chlorine dioxide into feed water for continuous protection or chlorine dioxide can be used for periodic shock treatments.
